As one who knows the pain and tears of the people, President has the strength to take country on correct path – Maha Sangha

Emphasizing that President Maithripala Sirisena is a leader who well understands the suffering, tears and pain of the innocent people of the country, and thus has the strength to take the country on the correct path, the Maha Sangha called upon him to have a commitment to meeting the essential needs of the people, in keeping with the great expectations placed on him.

So said the Ven. Girambe Ananda, Anunayaka Thera of Ramannya Nikaya, when the President called on the Anunayaka Thera for his blessings at the Sarananda Maha Pirivena at Anuradhapura Sunday morning (25). After blessings on the President with the chanting of Seth Pirith, the Anunayaka Thera said the coming to the position of national leadership by the son of a farming family of Raja Rata, was the fruition of expectations of the entire population with a genuine love for the country.

 

President Sirisena, who paid homage to the historic Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi at Anuradhapura Sunday morning, met with members of the Maha Sangha at Anuradhapura and conveyed his good wishes for their health and service to the community by keeping alive the spirit of Buddhism.

 

He also received blessings with Seth Pirith from the Maha Sangha led by the Most Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa Nayaka Thera of the Atamasthana.

 

The President who later participated in religious worship and rituals at the Ruwanweli Maha Seya, and received blessings from memers of the Maha Saangha led by the Most Ven. Pllegama Hemarathana Maha Thera of the Ruwanweliseya.

 

Ministers P. Harrison and Chandrani Bandara were among those present at the visit of the President to Anuradhapura.
