Video: JVP objects to the ‘wedlock’ at Uva PC
The administration of Mr. Harin Fernando who became the chief minister of Uva PC by getting the support of a group that included ministers who had been accused of frauds and corruption while the Council was ruled by the UPFA has been denounced by many.
The portfolios retained by the chief minister and other ministries have not changed despite Mr. Harin Fernando is appointed as the chief minister. As a result former chief minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa takes a seat parallel to that of the present chief minister and enjoys the position of a minister in the PC.
The JVP Member of the PC Samantha Vidyaratna has severely criticized this arrangement. He asked who should be consulted if an issue related to education surfaces for example. He pointed out it is not clear whether it should be directed to Harin Fernando, the Minister of Education or Shasheendra Rajapaksa, the Minister of Education.
Mr. Harin Fernando grabbing the chief ministerial post with the support of associates of Mahinda Rajapaksa has created many serious crises.
