Many believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Scrumptious goodies to go with your warm cup of coffee or tea. Who can say no to that? Looking for your favourite meal of the day served throughout the day?
Here’s a list of a few restaurants/cafes that serve all-day breakfasts.

 

Charcoal Gallery Cafe, Mount Lavinia

Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Charcoal Gallery Café is part of the Charcoal Arts Gallery which offers creative spaces for exhibitions, book launches, poetry readings, plays and more.
With a truly inspiring array of food and beverages on offer, the Café is a serenaded with jazz, rock and even contemporary music to accompany your meal. They offer freshly made gourmet Sri Lankan coffee and tea, delicious sandwiches, season fresh juices and more.
Their all-day breakfast meal includes bacon or garlic chicken sausages, two eggs (omelette, scrambled or sunny side up), toast, butter, jam and baked beans. For Rs. 400 and for being served as long as the café is open, this seems like a pretty decent deal.

Sugar Bistro & Wine Bar

Offering a relaxed dining experience highlighted by great service, Sugar Bistro has a menu of hearty dishes from around the globe. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming.
Their all-day breakfast includes an orange or ambarella juice, choice of fresh seasonal fruit (banana/ papaya/pineapple), two farm fresh eggs with a choice of pork, beef or chicken sausages, smoked bacon (with an option of beef bacon) grilled tomato, baked beans and a breakfast pot. All for LKR 1,100.

Coco Veranda

Open from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m., Coco Veranda is another place that offers a breakfast menu all day. The items on their sun-up menu are served with freshly brewed tea or coffee until 12 noon, after which only the food items are available.
Their sun-up menu comprises the following: Bacon wrapped eggs with toast (Rs. 620); Monte Cristo sandwich with baked beans (Rs. 590); Coco’s big breakfast (Rs. 720); English breakfast (Rs. 780); Veranda vegetarian breakfast (Rs. 750); The works by Coco (Rs. 760); Golden scramble (Rs. 620) with an add on of smoked salmon (Rs. 280); Eggs Benedict (Rs. 620); Omelette (chicken ham and cheese BBQ or Sri Lankan) (Rs. 480); Freshly baked butter croissants with butter and jam (Rs. 540).
They also have the following items (served till 12 noon): Waffles with caramelised bananas (Rs. 540); Waffles with butter and jam (Rs. 520); with add-ons of strawberry puree/banana puree Rs. 170 and kithul treacle (Rs. 110).

Cheers Pub, Cinnamon Grand

Possibly the unlikeliest place in which you’d expect an all-day breakfast menu, Cheers does offer a decent array of breakfast items as long as the pub is open; suited for late breakfasters, as the pub opens only at 11 a.m. and remains open till 2 a.m.
The all-day breakfast menu comprises two fried eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans, tomato and toast bread, all for Rs. 1,255 nett. Patrons can also enjoy the full-size snooker table, pool table and darts, while the Cheers Kids Club can keep your little ones entertained.

Park Street Mews

Made up of a series of old warehouses that have been restored into a vibrant street of entertainment, Park Street Mews’ restaurant, distinctly, offers the most extensive menu for an all-day breakfast, albeit only on the weekends (Saturday and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
Their Sri Lankan specials change weekly, so it’s a choice between string-hoppers, pittu and pol rotti.
The following items (ranging from Rs. 600 to 800) are served with fresh juice, toast, tea or coffee: Eggs Benedict – with smoked salmon or bacon; Mews Breakfast – two eggs cooked to your liking on toast with bacon or sausage; English Breakfast – two eggs cooked to your liking with mushroom, tomato, sausage, bacon and baked beans; Vegetarian Breakfast – creamed mushrooms on toast with grilled tomatoes and fresh herbs.
Their omelettes (Rs. 600-650) come in the variety of bacon tomato and basil, cheese and mushroom and spicy Sri Lankan, while they also offer pancakes (a stack of pancakes with banana and maple syrup Rs. 500).
Their healthy options include fresh fruits with yoghurt and kithul treacle (Rs. 500) and Bircher muesli (Rs. 450). You can get extra servings of bacon (Rs. 250), sausages (Rs. 300), baked beans (Rs. 200) and French toast (Rs. 250) to accompany your meal.

Avirate Café

With a variety of sweet and savoury dishes and a range of beverages on their menu, Avirate Café offers a warm, refined and elegant setting best suited for casual meetings. It is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offers a breakfast menu from which you can order at any time.
You can choose from a variety of beverages, waffles with various toppings, croissants, bagels with chicken ham, cinnamon rolls, caramel banana waffles and Nutella waffles.

Goodies, Cinnamon Lakeside

Although not specifically titled as an ‘all-day breakfast’ place, Goodies at Cinnamon Lakeside does offer quite a variety of breakfast items on their menu from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Located in the lobby level of the hotel, the outlet has an astounding range of over 100 varieties of sweet and savoury delicacies, including cakes, freshly-baked pastries, handmade chocolates, delicious pizzas, healthy salads, convenient sandwiches, ice cream, fresh juices, coffees and teas.
