Vasu- Ranil battle over MR
Visibly irritated UPFA Parliamentarian Vasudewa Nanayakkara got into a verbal battle with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today when the latter gave a sarcastic answer to a question raised in Parliament regarding a vocational training centre in Gaza Strip named after former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
DNA MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake asked how much money has been spent to establish Mahinda Rajapaksa Vocational Training Centre in the Gaza Strip in Palestine.
Wickremesinghe said previous government had spent Rs 130 million to establish the vocational training institute at Gaza Strip in Palestine.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said that the institute had been named Mahinda Rajapaksa Vocational Training Institute and it was a fruitless spending of public funds.
Prime Minister: “Construction work of this institute has not been commenced yet fully, but former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s name is now very popular in the Gaza Strip.”
As he said so government rankers including Chief Government Whip and Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilake laughed loudly expressing amusement.
