‘Bribery allegations politically motivated’ - Rishad

The bribery allegations made against Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen are politically motivated, says Minister Bathiudeen in his communique to the Commission.

On the instructions of Minister Bathiudeen, his Communique to the Commission is reproduced below in full.

 

“Complaint received at the Commission to investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption against me

“Through the mass media of Sri Lanka, I have learnt of a complaint against me lodged at the Commission against Bribery and Corruption on 06 March 2015.


The allegations are clearly politically motivated and are made by a former candidate who contested the 2013 Northern PC elections under Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and lost.


I kindly request your esteemed office to expeditiously inquire in to whatever the allegations therein and reveal the outcome to the general public of Sri Lanka.


I also wish to assure and commit my fullest cooperation to the Commission in this regard.
