2 day workshop at RPICS for Schools and Club Curators & Grounds men
2 day workshop will be at R Premadasa Initernational Stadium to up the skills of the Curators & Grounds men of Schools and Clubs. The workshop will be focused on the practical situation of pitch preparation, maintenance, off season renovation, top dressing, control of weeds, use of machinery and their maintenance. It will be conducted for around 30 participants. The workshop will be organized during the last week of April 2015.
Request to obtain ‘ICC’ assistance to endorse current ‘SLC Level 2 Cricket Coaching Course’
SLC has decided to obtain the ‘ICC’ certification in having the current ‘SLC Level 2 Cricket Coaching Course’ conducted by the ‘Coaching Department’ to be classified & endorsed by the ICC, this would help SLC in obtaining International recognition for its Level 2 Cricket Coaching Certificate. ICC has shown interest to help SLC by sending an assessor to Sri Lanka to observe the delivery of a Level 2 Course by the Coaching Department.
English Educational program for umpires by ICC & British Council
ICC together with the British Council are in the process of formulating a program to assist umpires in enhancing their skills in English training including reading, writing, comprehension, public speaking and confidence with the language. This would be specially designed with cricket in mind and targeted for Umpires in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India and later to other non-English speaking cricketing countries. Premier and Emerging umpires of Sri Lanka will undergo this program which will enhance and upgrade the English knowledge as this English Language exercise will become an integrated part of the Umpire Accreditation Program for all umpires seeking nomination to the International Panel in the near future.
National Umpire Managers meeting 2015 Conducted by ICC in Sri Lanka
ICC conducts a meeting on an annual basis for Umpire Managers for all Test playing countries. This is with a view to elevate and enhance the standard of umpiring in all Test playing countries. Sri Lanka has been chosen to host this years programme. All 10 Full Member country Umpire Managers will be in attendance along with the 4 Umpire Coaches and 2 ICC Umpire and Match Referee Staff. The meeting is held over 2 days. ICC has conducted workshops in Sri Lanka previously too recognizing Sri Lanka as a hub for the region.
Women’s Inter Provincial 02 day Tournament 2015/16
To Enhance Performance & Identify potential new players to the structure, Women’s Inter Provincial 02 day Tournament is scheduled for May/June 2015. It was proposed by the women’s development committee & Selectors that SLC should look at playing the longer version of the game to improve the players skill & attitude and how to adopt to match situations .It was agreed by both committee’s ( Tournament Committee & Women’s Cricket Development Committee) that it should only play 03 teams to make it more competitive.
Win-Bonus for Women’s National Cricketers
To Make Women’s Cricketers More Professional it is proposed that if a ODI or T20 series is won against a country, which is ranked No. 1 to 4 in the ICC rankings an additional 100% on match fee to be paid as an incentive for the players as a win bonus.
SLC to Assist Schools Under 15 Cricket Team- Tour of Malaysia – 2015
Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association are making arrangements to send a team to Malaysia to participate at the quadrangular cricket tournament for TUANKU Ja’ AFAR trophy in April 2015.This is an International tournament conducted by Malay Cricket Association of Malaysia and Sri Lanka Under 15 team has won the Championship last year. SLC has agreed to assist the SLSCA to make this tour.
Overseas Scholarship Program for 2 School Boy Cricketers
In order for Sri Lanka to gain sustained success, there is a need for quality development of players at the sub elite level as well. With that view in mind players that do well during the Schools cricket season will be sent abroad under the “Overseas Player Program”. The selected names & statistics of 07 players were sent to UK committee and out of which the UK committee selected 02 players .The players selected are Chamika Karunaratna & Lasitha Lakshan. Both players have been selected to play in the Premier League of the Middlesex County cricket championship .
Rewards for the Winners and Runners Up teams of under 15 and 17 all Island Schools Cricket Tournament
SLC decided to recognize schools that have won championships at different age groups during 2014. It is paramount that SLC recognize Schools that win Championships during a cricket season. SLC ExCo has approved to extend financial assistance by way of grants to best performing schools in the all Island category on merit basis.
