Death Notice – Mr. Kavindra Liyanage

It is with deep regret that Sri Lanka Cricket announces the passing of Mr. Kavindra Liyanage, Secretary Tournament Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket and Treasurer of Colombo District Cricket Association.

Born on 19th February 1960, Kavindra attended St John’s College, Nugegoda, Lumbini Vidyalaya & Isipathana College Colombo which he Captained the 1st XI Cricket Team in 1977/78. He was elected Secretary of Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club in the year 1990 and held that post until his passing away.

Kavindra leaves behind his wife Sriya Liyanage Son Avishka Liyanage & Daughter Charini Liyanage

His mortal remains lie at 480/7, Homagama Road, Athurugiriya. Funeral will take place on Monday 23rd March at Borella Cemetery.

His name would certainly go down in the annals of Sri Lanka Cricket to be fondly remembered by those in Cricketing fraternity who associated him closely, in years to come.

May the turf lie gently upon him.
