Committee to probe CMC housing problems
A special committee will be set up by the Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Ministry to investigate anomalies caused during the rehabilitation and removal of houses in the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) area in the recent past and find solutions to them. This follows a proposal made by Minister Rauf Hakeem which has gained Cabinet approval.
The Committee headed by Ministry's Additional Secretary (Urban Development) will comprise representatives of the UDA, CMC and a Deputy Solicitor General.
According to the Ministry, people who have been affected by anomalies created during the housing rehabilitation and removal program in the city should submit their complaints, requests or appeals to Additional Secretary (Urban Development) Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage 3rd floor, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla personally or by post on or before April 10.
