Royal pass Science test 37-22
- Schools Rugby
Royal College registered a good 37-22 win over last week’s giant killers Science College in their inter school rugby encounter at the Royal Sports Complex on Saturday.
Science College came into the game after scoring an upset win over the strong S Thomas’ College team last week but were unable to make any impression on the Royalists who produced another display of fluent rugby.
It was Science who drew first blood when they were awarded a penalty – the kick was missed but some casual handling of the loose ball by Royal saw Science gaining possession and storming through to score under the posts for an easy conversion. Science 7-0.
The shell shocked hosts were then galvanized into action and they ran in four tries in the next 20 minutes to spring to a 20-7 lead at the break.
After the resumption the hosts added a penalty to draw further away at 23-7.
Science then enjoyed a good passage of play where they scored a try and a penalty to reduce the deficit to 23-15.
It was then Royal’s turn to step up a gear and they scored two tries in quick succession which were both converted as they stretched their lead to 37-15. Science had the final say with a try which they converted for a final score of 37-22.
