Sri Lanka’s most valuable brands unveiled by Brand Finance, in LMD’s Brands Annual

The 2015 special edition of the Brands Annual is dominated by the banking sector

Media Services, the publisher of business magazine LMD, announced yesterday that its 2015 special edition of the Brands Annual has been released to supermarkets and bookstores across the island. The all-encompassing special issue features the top 200 listed and unlisted brands in Sri Lanka, in addition to the leading bands in several new categories – conglomerates, exports, and digital and emerging brands.
Compiled by Brand Finance, the top 10 amongst ‘listed brands’ are familiar names that include Bank Of Ceylon, People’s Bank, Dialog and Commercial Bank, in that order. Sri Lanka’s most valuable brand – BOC – is valued at Rs. 38.07 billion, whilst second-placed People’s Bank isn’t far behind with a valuation of Rs. 37.37 billion.
Brand Finance’s band ratings are led by Dialog, with a rating of ‘AAA-’ while the top ‘unlisted brands’ are Dettol, Sony and Panadol.
In the newly created segments, the iconic Dilmah brand heads the digital rankings – it has over 1.1 million likes on Facebook, Brand Finance notes, in the journal. Among the export brands, leading corporate brands Brandix Lanka, MAS and MJF are placed in first, second and third place respectively. As for Brand Finance’s best conglomerate brands, JKH, Softlogic and Hemas emerge as the best in class. And lastly, Cinnamon Hotels, Jetwing and amante head the table of ‘emerging brands’ in the 2015 Brands Annual.
