National Hotel Management Conference 2015 to feature renowned hospitality specialists

National Hotel Management Conference 2015 (NHMC 2015), the inaugural conference organised by the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association on 12 and 13 May at the Taj Samudra Colombo is tipped to showcase a number of internationally renowned hospitality specialists including Nisha Abu Bakar Maricair, Director – Elevated Training, Singapore who will deliver the keynote address on the topic: “Driving your Brandwagon in the Brandridden Hospitality Industry”.
The event, which is organised in collaboration with the Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, is expected to attract a large number of top business leaders representing the hospitality, travel and leisure sectors including hotel owners, industry leaders and hospitality experts. The two day conference held under the theme ‘Strategic Management for Hospitality Leaders’ will showcase the growing potential that lies within the travel and hospitality sector and explore approaches that allow companies to create further value for its stakeholders.
Commenting on the exciting event lineup, the Chairman of the Hotel Management Conference 2015 Committee of the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association, Nishantha Manawadu stated that the organising committee has been successful in attracting some of the world’s most respected hospitality specialists for the two-day conference. He also extended a warm invitation to all participants to take full advantage of this opportunity by registering early, as the seats are limited.

 

 

 
Sunil Dissanayake, who is the Project Leader of National Hotel Management Conference 2015 giving a brief outline of the two-day conference, stated that the technical committee has identified many timely topics for discussion during the conference. He further stated that the conference agenda will feature speakers and panel discussions with a wide cross-section of leading industry innovators and thought leaders on topics covering national, regional and global issues relating to travel and hospitality industry from both strategic and operational perspectives.
Apart from Nisha Abu Bakar Maricair who is the keynote speaker, H.N.S. Shrinivashn, former Senior Vice President – Human Resources, Taj Hotels & Resorts, Bombay, India; Dr. Rohantha Athukorala, Chairman – Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau; Deepal Sooriyaarachchi – Management Consultant, and Commissioner – Sri Lanka Inventors Commission; Dileep Mudadeniya, Head of Branding – Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts; Nirmalan Nagendra, former Finance Director – Park Hyatt, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Niranjan Heendeniya, Director – Hospitality Technology Ltd. Partner Office – Oracle Micros; Sunil Dissanayake, Consultant (Hospitality) – Macksons Holdings and former Director/General Manager – The Kingsbury; Moiya Hazell and Wasantha Samarasinghe, General Secretary – Inter Company Employees Union are expected to deliver presentations during the Conference. Review Sessions covering each day’s Modules will be done by Upul Gamage, Director/COO, LAHRC Management Services and Reefs Edge.

 

 

 
Another feature of NHMC 2015 is the high profile panel discussion – Managing Directors’ Forum, involving three top industry veterans, namely Hiran Cooray, Chairman – Jetwing Hotels; Lalin Samarawickrama, Managing Director – The Kingsbury PLC and Amaya Hotels & Resorts and Ranil De Silva, Managing Director – Serendib Leisure Management Ltd. They are expected to share their insights on the topic: Hotel General Manager’s Role – A Managing Director’s Perspective at a panel discussion, which will be moderated by Daily FT Editor Nisthar Cassim.
