Of the tough draws, SSC beat Tamil Union C&AC by 4 wickets  of Wednesday’s fixtures of the Sri Lanka Cricket Major Club U23 League 50-Over Tournament. Set a revised target of 222 under the DLS after rain intervened, SSC romped to 223 for 6 wickets in 45. 4 overs with Nipun Dhananjaya making 62 off 84 inclusive of 3 sixes and 2 boundaries. Sammu Ashan made an unbeaten run a ball 45 clobbering 3 sixes while Krishan Sanjula made 45 off 61 with 4 boundaries.  Tamil Union made 235 in 49 overs with Kavindu Madarasinghe top scoring with 45 off 61 with 3 boundaries and a six. 

Meanwhile, Army SC ‘s Bishan Mendis struck 104 off 100 balls containing 9 boundaries and 4 sixes in defeating Navy SC by 62 runs at Welisara. Army made 271 for 9 off 47 overs and Navy, chasing a revised target of 177 in 22 overs on the DLS in the rain marred match, were 114 for 9.

Other teams that sounded the victory board were CCC by 4 wickets over Kurunegela YCC, Galle CC by 2 runs over Kandy Customs CC , Sebastianites by 34 runs over Police SC, Badureliya CC by 2 wickets over Nugegoda S&WC, Air Force by 4 wickets over Lankan CC at Katunayake, Badureliya CC by 2 wickets over Nugegoda S&WC, all rain affected.
