Speaking at a ceremony to declare open a party office in the Kiribathkumubura area in Kandy on Saturday (May 16th), JVP North Central Provincial Councilor Wasantha Samarasinghe expressed views on financial fraud and other monetary irregularities that had taken place at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).

The Provincial Councilor said that in the recent past billions of rupees of EPF money was invested in companies at the Colombo Stock Exchange and losses were incurred. Samarasinghe noted that although he sought legal redress in this regard, his court cases were dismissed by former Chief Justice Mohan Peris, who the Councillor claimed to have acted in denial of these incidents.

The Provincial Councilor went onto note that Prime Minister mentioned some names in Parliament, saying these people had invested public property and public funds as well as funds of state institutions in the Colombo Stock Exchange. The Councillor however believes that there are more persons involved in this fraud.
