Pak Sri Lanka Friendship has Centuries old Civilizational Roots: Pak Envoy

A group of 19 Cadets of the Sri Lankan National Cadet Corps hailing from all over the Island will be visiting Pakistan from 24 to 31 May 2015 on a bilateral exchange visit.

The group will be headed by Major General Raja Guru and will also include 3 officers of the Sri Lankan Army.

The delegation called on the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Major General (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain at the High Commission of Pakistan yesterday.

 

While, briefing the delegation, the High Commissioner highlighted that Pakistan and Sri Lanka continue to enjoy extremely cordial relations in all spheres, since establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. These deep rooted relations draws strength from centuries old civilizational link through our shared rich heritage, which is preserved by the people and government of Pakistan with due reverence, he added.

 

HE Shakeel Hussain emphasized that strong defense cooperation between the two friendly countries constitutes a strong pillar of this all-encompassing relationship. He expressed the hope that the visit would add value to the already strengthened bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. He assured that the High Commission would continue to patronize and support such initiatives.

 

The delegation would also visit Islamabad, Mangla, Rawalpindi, Jehlum, and Muree during their stay in Pakistan.


Earlier a group of 15 Sri Lankan cadets visited Pakistan in April 2014, which was followed by the visit of 18 Pakistani cadets to Sri Lanka in October 2014 under this exchange programme.
