Children found dead in Dummalasuriya, Kalutara and Bibile

Three children from the areas of  Dummalasuriya, Kalutara and Bibile were killed in accidents.

A three year old child whose family depends on the coir industry, was killed when she fell into a pit of coconut husks. Police state that the parents were asleep at the time and were unaware of the incident. Police suspect that the child fell into the pit when she attempted to retrieve a bottle of sugar which was discovered inside the pit at the time.

Meanwhile, another incident was reported from the Gamagoda area in Kalutara,
where a fifteen year old boy was killed on his way to a tuition class when a rubber tree suddenly fell, striking him on the head.

Another incident was reported from the Polgahapitiya area in Bibile where a mother discovered the body of her six year old hanging from a sari cloth which had been tied to a cocoa tree. It has been reported that the parents were due to appear before courts to file for divorce on Monday and were living separately at the time.
