Japan invents iris recognition to unlock smartphone
A phone that is so smart it unlocks by recognising your iris when you look at the screen which is the latest feature of the Fujitsu Arrows NX-F-04G which will be on sale next month.
The ‘Iris Passport’ system takes about a second to unlock, and learns the features of the owner’s eyes, making the recognition more accurate with each use.
Japan’s largest mobile carrier, NTT DoCoMo will begin selling the phone later this month. Team member Kohei Oku stated the new feature also enhances cellular security, making mobile payments more secure.
The phone has infrared lights so that even in a dark area, it is able to recognize the user’s iris quickly but the only drawback is that users with colored contact lenses wont be able to use “Iris Passport”.
