Certain parties are making an effort to delay amendment to electoral system – charges JHU
The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) convened a media briefing on Friday, stating that certain parties are making an effort to delay amending the electoral system.
Media Spokesperson of the JHU, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe stated that they are presenting the fact that the views of the minority parties are not taken into consideration.
He further noted that The JHU is also a minority party and the JVP too is the same and that the SLMC is solely against this. He further added that the electoral reforms were drafted citing that all the views and suggestions were taken in to consideration at the discussions attended by Nishan Kariyapperuma.
He also noted that the SLMC representative too attended these meetings agreed to the facts and that later at the cabinet meeting their leader was against this. He also noted that they are either attempting to fulfill the wishes of someone else and sabotage this operation or they are trying to betray the people’s mandate and dismantle this process completely.
