Police search on for Tangalle PS chairman

(Srilankamirror) - Three police teams and the CID are searching for Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Sampath Chandra Pushpa, who is wanted for questioning in connection with the killing of a British man at a hotel at Wemedilla.

The politician had previously been accused over the shooting at a bus carrying supporters of UNP MP Sajith Premadasa during the last presidential polls, according to Lankatruth website.

A woman was killed in that incident.

Meanwhile, two suspects, identified as O.A. Lasitha and Saman Deshapriya, surrendered to Tangalle Police last night (Dec. 25) through a lawyer in connection with the hotel killing, according to sources at the office of the Southern Province DIG Lalith Jayasinghe.
