Kosciusko County Sees Four New COVID-19 Deaths

WARSAW — According to the Indiana Department of Health website, Kosciusko County reported four new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the county’s total to 46.
The county’s case number is now at 5,022, which is up from 4,840 reported on Monday, Nov. 30.
Locally, while Kosciusko County remains in the orange category, two neighboring counties are still in the “red” category in the method used by the state to track COVID-19 metrics.
The Indiana Department of Health relies on a color-coded county map that measures weekly cases per 100,000 residents and the seven-day positivity rate for all tests completed.
Wabash and Whitley Counties have 17.5% and 17.6% positivity rates, respectively; both of these rates have increased since last week. Elkhart County’s positivity rate decreased from 15.9% to 14.6% in the past seven days, changing the county’s color code from red to orange.
Kosciusko County’s positivity rate is 12.3%, according to the state dashboard. This is a very slight increase from a 12.2% positivity rate reported last week.
The baseline for red is 15 percent.
Under Gov. Eric Holcomb’s pandemic requirements, social gatherings of any kind in red counties are limited to 25 people. A special, seasonal or commercial event for which more than 25 people will be in attendance must submit a plan to the local health department at least seven days in advance and receive approval before proceeding. College and professional sports are included.
The Wabash County Health Department recently reported an additional COVID-19 death, bringing the county’s total to 23. The death occurred on Monday, Nov. 30. Wabash County has 1,906 positive cases.
Marshall County Health Department also recently reported an additional COVID-19 death, bringing the county’s total to 49. The death occurred on Monday, Nov. 30. Marshall County has 3,339 positive cases, which is up from 3,204 reported on Monday.
Statewide, the IDH website shows the number of COVID-19 deaths in Indiana rose to 5,688, which is up from 5,456 reported on Monday.
The total positive number of COVID-19 cases in Indiana is now at 350,970. More than 4,342,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered to Hoosiers.
Locally, Fulton County has 942 positive cases, Whitley County has 1,565 positive cases, Noble County has 2,847 positive cases and Elkhart County has 18,510 positive cases, which is up from 18,074 reported on Monday.
In other northern Indiana counties, Lake County has 30,007 positive cases, which is up from 29,183 reported on Monday; Allen County has 20,256 positive cases, which is up from 19,572 reported on Monday; and St. Joseph County has 18,319 positive cases, which is up from 17,808 reported on Monday.
According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, more than 5,226,000 people in the United States have recovered from COVID-19.
