WeatherTalk: Snow, cold weather will come
Historically, today is the average day of the start of continuous winter snow cover. Of course, each winter is different. Winter snowpack that does not melt until spring has happened as early as late October a few times, and there have been a few winters that have failed to produce snow cover to last even a month. Continuous snow cover often starts in November but, actually, in more than half of recorded winters in Fargo and Grand Forks, November snow has melted away at some point in early December.
