Court rejects case filed by foreigner over passport

- colombogazette.com

The Court of Appeal today dismissed a writ application filed by UK passport holder Kayleigh Fraser challenging her deportation.

The visa of the foreigner who promoted the Gota Go Gama (GGG) protests, had been cancelled.

The Immigration and Emigration Department had cancelled the visa of the British passport holder.

Immigration officers had recently visited the house where the Scottish woman was staying and seized her British passport.

Kayleigh Fraser had posted a video on social media showing immigration officers inspecting her passport.

In the video, immigration officers are heard saying they have suspicions on her real motive to be in Sri Lanka.

One immigration officer tells the woman that a visa has been issued for her for medical reasons yet there is suspicion if she was really in the country for medical reasons.

He said that an investigation will be conducted and the passport will be returned.

The foreigner was informed to appear at the Immigration and Emigration Department within 7 days to obtain her passport.

The woman was heard saying in the video that she was being harassed for drawing attention to the issues faced by the Sri Lankan public. (Colombo Gazette)
