Sri Lanka cabinet nod for agreement with Maldives on joint criminal investigations
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved a proposal to enter an agreement with the Maldives’ government for legal cooperation in matters of criminality, the government information department said.
The proposal, made by Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, was approved by the ministers at the weekly cabinet meeting held on Thursday September 22.
The statement said that the proposal seeks to overcome legal hurdles encountered in joint operations between Sri Lanka and the Maldives as well as to improve bilateral relations. (Colombo/Sep23/2022)
