Sri Lanka to prioritise Singapore FTA, president tells Singapore PM in Tokyo
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe has told Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong that he will prioritise the enactment of the Sri Lanka-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed in 2018.
Director of International Affairs at the president’s office Dinouk Colombage tweeted Tuesday September 27 morning that Wickremesinghe had conveyed this to the Singapore prime minister at a meeting held in Tokyo.
President Wickremesinghe is in Tokyo on a two-day official visit for the official funeral of slain Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He also met Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi, the president’s media division (PMD) said.
He is expected to fly to the Philippines on Wednesday where he will meet the governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). (Colombo/Sep27/2022)
