CCC skipper Ashan Priyanjan produced a superb all round performance claiming a match bag of 13 wickets for 152 and scoring 34 and 55 in routing BRC by 9 wickets in a Group A match of the SLC Major League Tournament played at CCC grounds. Priyanjan took 8 for 51 and 5 for 101 as BRC, batting first crashed for 153 and 258. Colts made 210 and chased down 202 in style for the loss of Piyanjan’s wicket with the skipper having posted 120 for the first wicket with Nimesha Gunasinghe who went on to remain unbeaten on a fine 86. Minod Bhanuka was unbeaten on a fluent 52. Meanwhile, Chilaw Marians trounced Tamil Union by 203 runs in a Group match at the R. Premadasa International Stadium. Chilaw Marians batting first made 191 and 317 with Tamil Union bowled out for 155 and 150. Gaurav Jathar put the Marians in command by a second innings top score of 81 as Tamil Union, chasing 354 for victory, crumbled to the bowling of Lasith Lakshan who took 5 for 66 in the wake of a first innings take of 3 for 55. Tamil Union’s Dilum Sadeera’s 6 for 71 in restricting the Marians in the first innings came to naught in the face of Jathar’s resolute second innings knock well supported by Lasith Lakshan who scored 49 to round off a fine all round performance taking 3 for 55 and 5 for 66.

Panadura SC came thumbs up trouncing Nugegoda Welfare Club by an innings and 28 runs in a Group B game at the Panadura Esplanade. Panadura SC ran up 392 on a superb century effort by Raminda Wijesooriya of 125. Other chief run getters were Koshan Danushka 78 and Nimesh Vimukthi 65. Nugegoda Welfare Club folded up for 75 with Panadura’s Nimesh Vimukthi returning brilliant haul of 7 for 43 . Following on Nugegoda fared much better totalling 289 with Abisheak Liyanarachchi top scoring with a defiant 89. Trunkwala Dilhara made 55 and Suwath Mendis an unbeaten 50. Vimukthi followed up his first innings spell with another fine 4 for 98 while Iwanka Sanjula was equal to the task claiming 4 for 62.

Of the other two of the five result oriented matches, Ace Capital CC hammered Sri Lanka Air Force by an innings and 28 runs on a 392 score batting first and bundling out their opponents for 80 and following on Air Force totalling 289 in a Group B match at Katunayake. Ace Capital owed it to contributions from Lasith Croospulle with top score of 62, Minad Kadam 56, Oshada Fernando 48 and Harsha Cooray 37. Doing the damage with the ball was Mohammad Irfan 5 for 43 and 2 for 97, and Wanuja Sahan 4 for 31 and 7 for 59. Meanwhile, Bloomfield thrashed SL Navy by a handsome 10 wickets in Group B fixture at Welisara. Bloomfield made 342 on a superb 117 by Hasnain Bokhari who capped it with a telling all round performance taking 5 Navy second innings wickets for 38. Navy folded up for 185 and 157. Bloomfield’s Dileepa Jayalath came tops with figures of 5 for 51 in running through the opposition in the first innings.
