Proposals to connect Ayurveda with General and Private Hospitals – National Council sub-committee Chair Hon. Namal Rajapaksa.

The National Council sub-committee on identifying short and medium-term programs related to National Policy which met recently (26) took into consideration the implementation of connecting Ayurveda with General and Private Hospitals for the development and sustainability in the field of Ayurvedic medicine.

This was decided at the National Council sub-committee on identifying short and medium- term programs related to National Policy held which was chaired by Hon. Namal Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament.

Officials from the Ministry of Health and its affiliated institutions were invited to this committee meeting held and the basic proposals on how to change the policies and the existing obstacles to achieve the goals related to creating a national policy to improve the health service was taken into discussion.

Furthermore, a preliminary discussion was also held in Parliament pertaining to the preparation of a plan to reform the education system by way of implementing a fixed national policy.

Discussions were held with the participation of officials representing the Ministry of Education and its affiliated institutions. Officials stated that conducting G. C. E Advance Levels as a University entry exam needs a transformation in such way that it would cater towards building a generation with skills. The National Council sub-committee Chair Hon.Namal Rajapaksa stated that in order to do so a transitional period is required and to submit a proposal containing the way forward to the committee.

Moreover, the importance of recognizing and improving vocational training and skilled labour through the education system itself was discussed at length. State Ministers Hon. Vijitha Berugoda, Hon. (Dr.) Seetha Arambepola, Hon. (Dr.) Suren Raghavan, Members of Parliament Hon. A. L. M. Athaullah, Hon.Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi, Hon. Wajira Abeywardana and Hon. Rauff Hakeem were present at the two consecutive Committee meetings held.
