Galle crushed Kandy by 10 wickets with a day to spare with openers Sangeeth Cooray 75 off 72 and Hashan Dumindu 54 off 69 knocking off the 123 target in style in a National Super League 2023 encounter at the P. Saravanamuththu Stadium on Saturday. Cooray struck 8 boundaries and 3 sixes to round off a brilliant performance with the following his 132 in the first innings. Dumindu hit 3 sixes and an equal number of boundaries as Galle reached 129 for no loss off 23.5 overs.

Kandy flopped for 198 in the second innings despite a valiant 71 off 141 balls by Sandun Weerakkody (4×4, 1×6). Praveen Jayawickrama 3 for 20 and Mohammed Shiraz 3 for 26 came tops with the ball.
