Ton up Sineth Jayawardene the toast in Sri Lanka’s triumph over B’desh

Ton up opening batsman Sineth Jayawardene was the toast of the Sri Lanka U19 team’s five-run triumph over Bangladesh in the Under 19 Tri Nations Series match played at the Sheikh Sayed Stadium in Dubai.

The left handed Jayawardene, a product of Royal College, Colombo set the ball rolling striking 101 off 122 deliveries hitting 9 boundaries and 2 sixes as Sri Lanka reached 234 for 5 off 44.3 overs chasing Bangladesh’s 229 for 8 in 50 overs. He found great support from his opening partner Hirun Kapurubandara who scored a run a ball 51 as their first-wicket partnership topped the 100-mark in giving their side the upper hand. Wicket-keeper batsman Kapurubandara struck 9 boundaries and a six in his run a ball knock.
