South Africa A defeated Sri Lanka A by 5 wickets with 85 balls to spare in the third unofficial ODI to take a 2-1 lead in the 5-match unofficial ODI series at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Put into bat, Sri Lanka A was bowled out for 172 in 42.3 overs as the South Africans made light of their target making 175 for 5 in only 35.5 overs propelled by two unbeaten knocks by Tristan Stubbs who made 58 off 93 balls inclusive of 4 boundaries and Senuran Muthusamy 45 off 55 with 3 boundaries.

Dilshan Madushanka was the pick of the Lankan bowlers claiming 3 for 34 having claimed the first three wickets to fall as the Proteas were at one stage reduced to 62 for 3, but recovered to take control of the game.

Sri Lanka A got off to a bad start losing key batsman Nishan Madushanka, who won tihe previous game for the hosts on the back of a century, for 1 as wickets fell at regular intervals with only Sahan Arachchige and Ashen Bandara among the runs with scores of 63 and 36 respectively. Arachchige struck 4 boundaries in his 103-ball knock in bringing up his second half century in the series while Bandara struck 5 boundaries and a six in his 49-ball knock.

Gerald Coetzee did the damage with the ball for the Proteas picking up 5 wickets for 48 runs.
