Cabinet nod for electricity sector reforms bill – Kanchana Wijesekera
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera posting a message on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) says that the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposed Electricity sector reforms bill today (20) and that the new bill will be gazetted and presented in Parliament for approval.
Minister Wijesekera further states that once approved by Parliament, the new Electricity Act will enable the unbundling of CEB services, restructure CEB, improve efficiency, transparency and accountability and will allow private sector participation across generation, transmission and distribution.
