Govt.: No Sinhala Colonies In The North

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa denies allegations of government sponsored colonization of the Sinhalese in the North.

Rajakapksa has told parliament that no Sinhala family has been resettled in the North.

He has accused the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians of misleading the House by making false statement about the setting up of Sinhala colonies in the North.

Rajapaksa has asserted that it was the LTTE that evicted Muslims, Sinhalese and even the Tamils from the North and that the government has now made way for them to return to their homes.

Rajapaksa has made these comments in response to statements made by several TNA parliamentarians about the government supporting the setting up of Sinhala colonies in the North.
