Suspect arrested in UK over Sri Lankan shop assistants's killing
A teenager was arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of a Sri Lankan
shop assistant in Merseyside, UK, the BBC reported.
Mahesh Wickramasingha, 30, died after being stabbed in the neck while working at Stanley News in Kingsway, Huyton on 29 November.
A police spokesman said a 19-year-old man had been arrested on Wednesday night. He was taken to a police station in Liverpool for questioning.
Mr Wickramasingha has been described as “friendly” and “very hardworking”.
The owner of the shop, Dr Gunapala Welhengama, said the father-of-two
had come to the UK to support his family back in Sri Lanka.
