Solheim with the GTF members

The Global Tamil Forum (GTF) says it had talks with Norwegian Minister Erik Solheim in Oslo, Norway on Friday.

In an email to the media (GTF) said it had formal meetings with Solheim, Leader of the Opposition & Conservative Party Leader Erna Solberg MP and Karin S Woldseth MP of the Progress Party and Member of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Parliamentary Select Committee.

Norway is one of the 47 voting members of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the Norwegian Parliament will also be debating Sri Lanka on 26 March, GTF noted.

Separately a Sri Lankan delegation in Geneva had another briefing with foreign diplomats, human rights representatives and NGOs on the sidelines of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session in Geneva on Friday.

The Sri Lankan delegation included Presidential advisor and parliamentarian professor Rajiva Wijesinghe and head of the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA) Jeevan Thiagarajah.

Tamil Diaspora members who had also attended the discussion had questioned the government delegation on Tamil detainees reported missing, sources in Geneva told The Sunday Leader.

Meanwhile there was also speculation that a Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP had talks with the President of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Laura Dupuy Lasserre on Friday, sources in Geneva said.

The meeting was believed to have taken place outside the UN building in Geneva.Solhiem meets Diaspora ahead of UNHRC vote
