Muslims stage protests over Dambulla incident
Muslims across the country staged demonstrations after Friday prayers this afternoon asking that measures be taken to bring about religious harmony that has been affected after the moves to remove a mosque situated in the Dambulla scared city area.
There were large demonstrations in Puttlam as well as in the eastern province while at the Devatagahawatta mosque in Colombo many people gathered outside after prayers carrying placards.
They also demanded that the mosque be not removed from the present premises and people's right to religious worship be ensured.
Colombo Mayor A.J.M. Muzzamil was among those who took part in the protest.
