A number of performances have been lined up for the upcoming evening to entertain the attending guests. The line up include choreographed dances fused with Sri Lankan and Indian cultural elements, fashion shows that touch on the latest fashions, make up shows, a performance by the popular percussion band Nadro and much more.
“We are the oldest friendship society in Sri Lanka with a history of more than 50 years,” said Kandiah Neelakandan, Attorney-at-Law/ Notary Public and the President of The Sri Lanka India Society. “We are always searching for ways to foster friendship between the two communities – India and Sri Lanka. We visualise ‘Sthree Utsav 2012’ as an event that will help to increase interaction and create new friendships among members and other guests that will attend the event.”
“We expect more than 300 people to attend this event, which will be a combination of fashion, fusion and glamour. We have done a host of events that include cricket matches and dinners, but this will be something unique and different,” said Revlon General Manager T. S. Prakash who is also the Project Chairman of the Event and an executive committee member of the Sri Lanka India Society, relaying his sentiments about the upcoming event.
“This is one of the most sought after events by the members and this year is going to be extremely special because of the line up of events,” said Life Sciences Country Manager and executive committee member of The Sri Lanka India Praveen Viswakumaran. “Sthree Utsav 2012 will likely create history due to the glamour and the hype created by the management and the organising committee of the event.”
With more than 600 members island-wide, the Sri Lanka India Society continually persists to strengthen the bond between the Sri Lankan and the Indian community. Activities such as Mahatma Gandhi Oration, ‘Saathme’ Members’ Fellowship, T-20 cricket matches, annual family day, a dinner to celebrate India’s Independence Day and much more has already established the club as a dedicated society.
Therefore, ‘Sthree Utsav 2012’ with the main sponsorship of United Colours of Benetton and Jewel Laurel will be another vibrant addition to their long list of activities that have entertained the members, their families and also their friends for many years.
