The Colombo Fashion Week, a completely integrated showcase, aimed at developing a South Asian fashion hub, which encourages and promotes commerce between regional designers and retailers, kicked off in Colombo on February 5. Its main aim is to uplift the fashion industry of Sri Lanka, and its approach is multifaceted.

Magsaysay award winner Padma Shri Deshamanya Dr. Pandit Amaradeva was honoured with Arts Inventor’s Crown 2010 at Ananda College Auditorium on January 8. This distinction was conferred on him for inventing a violin version named ’Mandohalf’. This was the first time in Sri Lanka that arts inventions were recognized for awarding State honours.
