UNP and JVP accused of exploiting Sarath Fonseka to achieve political gains
Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena has accused the UNP and JVP of attempting to achieve political mileage exploiting the Sarath Fonseka issue.
The Deputy Minister said that the only hope of Ranil Wickremaisnghe is to divert attention from the crisis within his party. He said if the UNP or the JVP need to secure the release of Sarath Fonseka there is a certain procedure to be followed. When S.B. Dissanayake was in prison Ranil Wickremasinghe did not send at least a letter to the President seeking his release. He said that Sarath Fonseka contested the Presidential Election and he entered Parliament. Sarath Fonseka is not a threat to the Government. Therefore the President or the Government does not want to jail him.
