Thamil Chelvam statue removed from the French town
The statue, of former LTTE Political wing leader Thamilchelvan erected in a French Town, has been removed from the place it was first erected.
LTTE loyalists had erected the statue in the town of La Courneuve. It was unveiled on the 1st of last month despite protests from the Sri Lankan Embassy. The Sri Lankan Ambassador in France had briefed the Mayor and members of the Municipal Council of the town of La Courneuve, about the atrocities committed by Thamil Chelvan. He had extensive discussions with the French Foreign Ministry on this matter. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the statue was removed as a result of this action.
