Salu Sala Employees’ Salaries Delayed

The UNP says payment of salaries to employees of a state institution has been delayed while benefit payments have been delayed since 2007.

UNP parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera has said while salaries of employees at Salu Sala have been delayed, their Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) payments have not been paid since 2007.

Jayasekera has called on State Resources and Enterprise Development Minister Dayasritha Tissera to address the issue.

Tissera has admitted to the delay in the payment of salaries, but added that the salaries have been paid although the institution has been in a severe financial mess.

He has said the employees’ salaries were being paid from the profits earned by Salu Sala with the help of the Treasury.

Tissera has also noted that the employees would be paid EPF as soon as possible.
