STAMP FROM HOTEL SECTOR MARKING WORLD TOURISM DAY
The Hotel Sector has for the first time issued a commemorative stamp on behalf of World tourism Day.The launch of the commemorative stamp by Cinnamon Grand Hotel Group was held on the sidelines of World Tourism Day under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the Hotel premises. Post Master General M.K.B. Dissanayake presented the first stamp to the Minister. General Manager of Cinnamon Grand Hotel Rohan Carr was present on the occasion. The stamp depicts “Nugagama” belonging to this Hotel Group. It depicts the local identity. Traditional food was served in parallel to the launch of the commemorative stamp. “Nugagama” gives an opportunity for hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting the island to witness as well as study the Sri Lankan identity and exquisiteness of the village from the City.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa observing “Nugagama” lauded the support given by the Private Hotel Sector to the programme of converting Sri Lanka into a tourist resort. The Minister also joined in a tree planting campaign at “Nugagama”. Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, foreign diplomats and Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Nalaka Godahewa were among those present.
