ITN receives award for best tele -drama
ITN received a number of awards including one for the best tele- drama at the 35th Signey’s awards ceremony.
The awards ceremony was held at the BMICH under the patronage of His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith. The ‘Oba Kavuda’ telecast by the ITN won the award for the best tele-drama. Mahendra Perera who acted in the tele-drama was adjudged the best actor. The award for the best actress went to Himali Sayurangi of the same tele-drama. The highest number of awards were won by the film ‘Bamara Walalla’. The director of the film Athula Liyanage won awards for the best film and direction. Mahendra Perera won the award for best actor for his performance in the film. Damitha Abeyratne won the award for best actress for her performance in the film ‘Dakina Dakina Mal’. Veteran actors Sanath Gunatillake, Roy de silva and singer Charitha Priyadarshini received honorary awards for the service rendered in the field of Performing Arts. Minister T.B. Ekanayake and a large number of artistes participated in the occasion.
