SriLankan Airlines along with Sri Lanka Tourism and Aitken Spence Hotels launched their latest promotion with London Taxis to boost the airline’s image in the UK market yesterday.

London Taxis operating from the World Travel Market at East London Dockland are now branded as SriLankan Airlines taxis with new SriLankan stickers covering the outer surface of the vehicles.
The airline is now running to its capacity with 12 flights daily to London, Heathrow, operating from KIA.
SriLankan Airlines’ current global route network consists of 60 destinations in 34 countries in Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Far East, North America, Canada and Australia.
SriLankan Airlines Chairman Nishantha Wickremasinghe said the carrier aims to boost its fleet to 28 aircraft over the next four years and is currently in talks with various aircraft companies with regard to a deal which may consist of up to six long-haul aircraft. It has also leased four additional Airbus A320 aircraft.
SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena said the carrier wants to add roughly six wide-bodies, the Airbus A330-300 and the Boeing 777, to its fleet to replace its Airbus A340-300s, with deliveries beginning in 2013-2014.
