Sri Lanka will welcome its 800,000th tourist today, getting a step closer to the new target of 850,000 arrivals by end 2011.

Central Bank reports show that the income generated by the industry has risen by 48% in 2011, compared to 2010. Income per tourist on a daily basis is also said to have increased from US$ 88 to US$ 97.
