NPC to be re-activated in Jan.

Srilankamirror - One of the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), the re-activation of the National Police Commission (NPC) is to take place in January 2012.

The government has said it would activate the NPC by appointing members to the defunct body in January 2012.

Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga has said the appointments would be made in the first week of January.

The NPC was defunct due to the failure to appoint new commission members after the terms of the Commission and its Chairman ended in April 2009.
