ITN wins many awards at State Awards Ceremony

ITN has won 18 awards for excellence at the Television State Awards ceremony.

The 2010 Television State Awards Ceremony was held at the BMICH last night under the patronage of Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne. Minister T.B. Ekanayake and several other Ministers and Parliamentarians participated in the occasion. The highest number of awards was won by the Teledrama ‘Arungal’ telecast by the ITN. Kumara Liyanage of ‘Arungal’ won the award for the best lyrics while D.D. Gunasena won the award for the best theme song. Sarath Wickrama of the same tele-drama won an award for best music direction. Dhammika Dissanayake of of Arungal won an award for best photography while Lalith Ratnayake won an award for the best screen play. Manjula Ayagama was awarded for best Art Direction while Wasantha Wittachchi of the same teledrama won an award for the best make up artiste. Nishantha Nelson and Tharanga Kumarasinghe of Arungal were awarded for best recording and sound mixing. Umali Thilakaratne won the award for the best female supporting actress while Wasantha Wittachchi won the award for best male supporting actor. Jayani Senanayake who performed in the same tele-drama was adjudged the best actress. The best actor of the year was Jayalth Manoratne of the same tele-drama. ‘Arungal’ was also adjudged the best tele-drama of the year. A merit award was presented to Mauli Ferdinando who acted in the tele-drama. Sister channel of ITN Wasantham TV also won several awards. The channel won the award for the best TV teaser. Wasantham TV Manager Murugesu Kulendran won the award. Musharaf of Wasantham TV won an award for the best Tamil Announcer. An advertisement created by Kapila Krishantha Suriyaarachchi was adjudged the best Ad. A short film created by ITN editor Punya Samarakoon was also awarded at the function. The once in a life time award was resented to Iranganie Serasinghe.
