Opposition takes to streets in protest today
(Srilankamirror) - The UNP-led opposition is organizing a protest campaign in front of the Colombo Fort railway station today (Feb. 17), starting at 3.00 pm, against the fuel price hike and the escalating cost of living.
Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will lead the agitation, also to be joined by Dr. Vickramabahu Karunaratne, Mano Ganeshan, Sirithunga Jayasuriya and leaders of several other parties and people’s organizations, said UNP general secretary Tissa Attanayake.
TNA MP Suresh Premachandran said they too, would take part.
The JVP has said that it would not participate in any programme being organized by the UNP.
