Sri Lanka appoints five more new envoys

Sri Lanka Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (22) confirmed the appointments of new envoys to five more countries.

 

The five nominees have received the concurrence of the respective receiving States and have been cleared by the Sri Lanka Parliamentary Committee on High Posts as well, Ministry spokesperson Mahishini Colonne said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

 

Attorney-at-Law, Mr. A. L. T. Najeemudeen has been appointed as the next Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Afghanistan. 

 

Ms. Yasoja Gunasekera, a member of the Sri Lanka Foreign Service has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh.  Her last assingment was as Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou. She has also served in Sri Lanka's missions in India, New York and Washington DC.

 

Mr. Tilak Ranaviraja, a member of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service has been appointed as the next Ambassador of Sri Lanka to France. Mr. Ranaviraja has served in several capacities for over 42 years including as Secretary to several ministries. At present he is the CEO of the Environment Forum of Sri Lanka and functions as a Senior Advisor to the President.

 

Member of the Sri Lanka Foreign Service Mr. Kandeepan Balasubramaniam has been appointed as the next Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the State of Kuwait. He is currently Consul in the Sri Lanka Consulate in Chengdu. He has also served overseas in Sri Lanka's missions in Philipines, The Netherlands and Egypt.

 

An Academic, Mr.Tikiri Herath Gunathilake has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Seychelles. 
 

The respective Heads of Mission-designate are expected to take up their posts shortly, Ms.Colonne said.
