Fonseka loses patience, calls for revival of aragalaya protests

Gamapaha District SJB MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka yesterday called on people to revive the Aragalaya protests to save the country from self-serving politicians in power.

The war winning army commander told Parliament that the nation could not move forward without getting rid of the sinister elements in politics. “I call upon people to come out to the streets and fight till these fraudsters give up power. The next Aragalaya protests should not be led to a single group or confined to the Galle Face. People all over the country are under tremendous pressure because of the financial crisis caused by the politicians pocketing public funds. The Aragalaya  is the need of the hour. We have to change the prevailing political culture in this country,” he said.

“This country is now similar to a dilapidated Walauva. After two or three generations these Walauvas have become

ramshackle because the offspring of the aristocrats do not know how to maintain them. The foundations are attacked by rodents. The rafters get infested with termites. There are bats hanging in inside rooms. Without getting rid of them, we cannot rebuild this nation,” Field Marshal Fonseka said.
