  • Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka by 62 runs in a U19 Tri Nations Series match played at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi, UAE yesterday. Afghanistan U19 totalled 298 in 49.2 overs and dismissed Sri Lanka U19 for 236 in 41 overs. Mohammad Haroon top scored for Afghanistan with 88 off 59 balls hitting 7 boundaries and 4 sixes in giving his side a head start upfront with the total being swelled up by Khalid Tariwal 45 off 52 (2×4), Karan Hotak 43 off 33 (1×4, 2×6) and Sohail Khan 34 off 61 (1×4, 1×6). Duvindu Ranathunga was the pick of the Lankan bowlers claiming 4 for 51.

Sri Lanka made a strong effort with Duvindu Ranathunga once again coming to the fore in top scoring with 46 off 50 balls inclusive of 5 boundaries. Opening batsman Sineth Jayawardene scored a run a ball 41 filled with 7 boundaries, but the tall target proved to be beyond their reach.
