No final decision on domestic debt restructuring : Bandula debt
By Rathindra Kuruwita
Sri Lanka had not taken a final decision on domestic debt restructuring, Cabinet spokesperson Bandula Gunawardena said on Wednesday.
Addressing the media in Colombo, he said that the government was discussing with economists and other stakeholders ways and means of restructuring the domestic debt.
Gunawardena said Sri Lanka had not even finalised restructuring foreign debt, and restructuring domestic debt would take place only after foreign debt was restructured.
The Cabinet spokesperson added that President Ranil Wickremesinghe had advised officials to ensure that bank deposit holders and social security schemes such as the Employees’ Provident Fund would not be adversely affected by domestic debt restructuring.
