Sabry: SL will get second tranche of IMF loan soon

Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabri told Parliament yesterday Sri Lanka was likely to receivethe second tranche of the IMF extended fund facility within a couple of weeks.

Sabry said the IMF Executive Board would review the agreement between the Sri Lankan authorities and their official creditors represented by the Official Creditor Committee (OCC) on a debt treatment by 12 Dec.

Minister Sabry said it was a remarkable achievement for Sri Lanka to have reached the OCC agreement on debt treatment.

Participating in the committee stage debate on Budget 2024 under the expenditure heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Sabry said that he believed with the receipt of the IMF second tranche, Sri Lanka would be able to move up from the bankrupt status.
